Atlanta Makes Room
Concentrics Restaurants Launches First Steakhouse Concept

Atlanta, GA (June 16, 2008) – Atlanta has made room for Concentrics Restaurants’ Bob Amick and Todd Rushing’s latest concept which opened on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, in Downtown Atlanta. Along with Novare Group, Concentrics launched the company’s first steakhouse, Room at TWELVE® Centennial Park. Located on the ground floor of the hotel and residences, the modern American steakhouse is conveniently located near all that is happening in Atlanta’s burgeoning downtown, making it an ideal gathering and dining spot for drinks, steaks and sushi before and after the city’s variety of concerts, gallery exhibits, sporting events and more.

The Chef

Executive Chef Nick Oltarsh, highly acclaimed for contemporizing classic American dishes and recently named as StarChefs 2007 Atlanta Rising Star Hotel Chef, created the modern American steakhouse menu for Room. Evolving his culinary career with Concentrics Restaurants in Atlanta, Oltarsh was the former chef at Murphy’s in Virginia Highland and currently holds the position of executive chef at Lobby at TWELVE®. Oltarsh brings to Room a passion for food along with innovative and artistic presentations. With a Culinary Institute of America degree in hand, Oltarsh launched his impressive career in 1992 and trained with some of the finest chefs in America.  He has worked in some of his native city’s most renowned restaurants including Eleven Madison Park in New York where he served as sous chef from 1998 to 2001 and Gramercy Tavern where he held the title of Tavern chef.

The Cuisine

Oltarsh has added his personal touch and culinary expertise with a wide selection of steaks and fresh fish to anchor the menu along with a selection of sushi. Accompanying sauces for the meats and eclectic a la carte side dishes add playful, international undercurrents, and dinner menu categories continue the theme with categories including Small, Skewered, Plated, Broiled, Sauced, Veged, Carbed, Added and Rolled, Sliced & Riced. Standout dishes include Warm Gougeres stuffed with bacon, Swiss cheese, pickled onions and arugula, Lime Marinated Chicken Wings with tamarind sauce and cilantro chutney, Braised Sliced Short Rib with stir fried vegetables and spicy beef broth, Salmon Milanese with chopped salad, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil and the 21 oz Grilled Cowboy Ribeye. Toro Tartare with Ossetra caviar and The Room Platter, which features the chef’s best of the day, are sushi menu highlights.

The Cocktails

A swank spot for Downtown’s cocktail crowd, Room’s square-shaped bar lures guests to have a drink before dinner or linger late into the evening. Skilled bartenders create updated American classics, such as The French 75 and The Georgia Mint Julep. And a selection of intriguing signature cocktails including The Cucumber Mintini, The Carrot Gingerini and Red Pepper Mojitotini, sway guests to explore their sense of adventure. Room also features an extensive wine list.

The Décor

As with Lobby at TWELVE in Atlantic Station, Room functions as the nexus of energy and excitement for the hotel.  At once a stimulating hot spot to sip on handcrafted cocktails and a relaxing destination for exceptional wines and foods, Room elevates the typical steakhouse standards, providing an extraordinary dining experience for hotel guests, residents and locals alike.

Designed by Thom Williams and ASD Architects, the restaurant gives new meaning to the modern American steakhouse with bold shades of steel and platinum throughout, brought to life by a dramatic touch of red. Chic table seating and banquettes topped with rich dark woods add all-around finesse to the décor. A stunning focal point of the restaurant, Room features a sushi bar facing the open kitchen where guests may watch the action behind the scenes unfold. In addition, three small, private rooms are located directly off the main dining room, and the Event Space at TWELVE Centennial Park, a striking banquet facility, serves as the perfect entertaining destination for special occasions.

Novare Group, the Atlanta-based developer of high-rise condominiums including TWELVE Hotels & Residences, and Concentrics Hospitality have an official partnership to develop unique chef-driven restaurants in all TWELVE Hotels & Residences throughout the Southeast. The relationship between the two companies began with the creation of the popular restaurant Lobby at TWELVE within TWELVE Atlantic Station®. Room at TWELVE Centennial Park is located at 400 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30308.  The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and weekend brunch.   For more information, call 404.418.1250 or visit roomattwelve.com.
