Virginia native Cameron Thompson credits his love for creative foods as the greatest strength he brings to the chef’s table.  Now Thompson has the opportunity to let his creativity shine as chef at TWO urban licks.  Thompson has been an integral part of the culinary team at TWO for the past two years.  Here, his passion for innovation and desire to exceed every diner’s expectations will enliven the “Fiery American Cooking” praised by Atlantans year after year.

While in school, Thompson began his culinary career with the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group. He worked his way through the ranks at 103 West, Buckhead Life’s private dining facility. It was here that he also learned classic French cooking techniques. His hard work was rewarded in 2001 when he became executive sous chef at Buckhead Diner and worked with acclaimed Chef Kevin Rathbun. After two years, Thompson then was appointed to the executive chef position at Corner Café where he was responsible for extensive menu changes that increased food sales. In 2004, Thompson returned to the critically acclaimed Buckhead Diner, this time as executive chef. He joined the Concentrics family in 2005 as sous chef at TWO urban licks.

Thompson unexpectedly stumbled upon his passion for the restaurant business. He began bussing tables at 18 and was quickly moved to the kitchen, impressing the restaurant owner with this strong work ethic.  Thompson excelled in his new cooking position and developed an interest in the industry. He decided to turn his passion into a career and graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1999.

Thompson currently lives in the Old 4th Ward with his wife, Hannah, and enjoys taking wildlife photography in his free time.
